The Community Knowledge Hub was developed for Locality (http://locality.org.uk/) as a pilot project for a knowledge sharing tool about Asset Transfer. Asset Transfer occurs when for example a local community elects to take over a library or a swimming pool that is being closed by the council. The process of taking over the asset can be daunting, and this project aims to bring the knowledge holders (ex-employees, government workers, volunteers and other experts) together with those who are seeking to take over an asset.

The brief was for an easily searchable knowledge database with resources (text, video, PDF, etc), case studies and a Q&A forum, all tied together by categories that would help to classify and clarify all the information and direct a person performing asset transfer to what they needed to know at that point in time for their situation.

In technical terms the site was built in Drupal 6, with some nice theme features such as collapsible fieldsets for Views exposed filters, a javascript slider (AnythingSlider) for front page content, and "Relevant Content" nodereference fields that appear in the sidebar of the content referencing it. The design was by Marc De'ath of The Creative Coop and we also collaborated with Nicolas Borda (www.ipwa.net) on some elements of the site, particularly the Action Planning Tool that allows readers to drill down to the specific knowledge they need and see all relevant content.
